Facial line softening and dermal fillers
Since the rising popularity of aesthetic treatments, we have had an ever increasing demand for facial line softening procedures such as botox and fillers.
Our nurse, Debbie Hines, who has been a fully qualified clinician for a number of years, will, at the initial consultation, guide you through the procedure and answer any questions and concerns that you may have.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are used to fill in or plump out lines and wrinkles caused by the ageing process. These line can be caused by environmental damage, poor lifestyle choices and sun damage, or simply as a result of the way we use our facial muscles.
The treatment involves the injection of Hyaluronic Acid (a substance that occurs naturally in healthy skin) directly into the contour of the wrinkle.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance found in your own body that helps hydrate and add volume to your skin. But, as time goes by your natural levels of HA diminish, resulting in skin that looks dull and wrinkled.

After the treatment you will see immediate results - smoother, softer, more youthful skin and in many cases the line itself is literally erased.
An initial consulation with our qualified clinician may take 30 - 45 minutes - the treatment itself can take 15 - 30 minutes depending on the area to be treated. Some redness may be experienced for a brief period following the treatment and occasionally some minor localized bruising.
Results can last between 4 and 6 months, with repeat treatments offering longer lasting results.

What is Botox?
Botulinum toxin is a purified bacterial substance that blocks muscle nerve signals. Injections of very small quantities temporarily relaxes the muscles therefore preventing the formation of new wrinkles and softening any existing lines. Botox is injected directly into the muscle that is producing the wrinkle - a process that generally takes between 15 and 30 minutes.
Age related wrinkles such as crows feet and frown lines can be smoothed out.

Horizontal forehead lines
Soften lines along the top lip
Lift the corners of the mouth
The full effects of treatments develop slowly over about 2 weeks. Our qualified clinician will arrange a follow up consultation in order to assess the results. Results may vary and occasionally a second dose is needed at this stage to gain the desired effect. The benefits will usually last between
3 - 6 months.
To retain the desired effect further treatments are needed, usually three or four in the first year, but, as the change becomes more permanent further treatments may only be needed twice in the second year.
Once you have had your treatment you can return to normal daily activities, however avoid saunas/gym activities |
